If any theatre deserves the title of “Community Theatre” it is Tyldesley Little Theatre.  In an age when back street pubs are nearly a thing of the past it is amazing that TLT thrives in its back street location, in the heart of an ex-mining village, and its purpose is the same as it ever was: to provide the local community with top quality, low price, live, family entertainment.  And it has being doing just that since 1921!  Unlike many local theatres which survive by attracting actors from surrounding areas and societies, Tyldesley Little Theatre has maintained a solid body of committed members who give their all to produce at least five critically acclaimed productions every year. The society regularly enters two or three competitive festival competitions each year and, since 1984, has won or been nominated for 135 awards!  These award wins encompass all aspects of theatre: acting, directing, design and technical and front of house, to name but a few. Perhaps part of the secret of TLT’s success is in the variety of shows that the society presents.  Pay a visit to our Lemon Street theatre and be prepared to witness anything!  Our shows have included everything from pantomime to period drama, from musical – such as an epic version of the Adrian Mole story with songs- to hard-hitting contemporary thrillers such as the award winning ‘Dead Guilty’.  Most of all, though, the good folk of Tyldesley enjoy nothing better than a big laugh and, for decades, TLT has been renowned for good honest fun provided by down-to-earth Lancashire comedies, frenetic farces and all manner of humour from masters of the genre such as Mike Harding, Willy Russell and Alan Ayckbourn.  Why not visit us at Lemon Street, we always offer the warmest of welcomes from the moment a patron steps through the doors.
